James C Bozzuto, M.D.

Assistant Clinical Professor

Dr. Bozzuto directs Psychotherapy Education in the Department of Psychiatry. He is a graduate of the University of Maryland Medical School, University of Cincinnati, Department of Psychiatry, and New York Medical College, Division of Psychoanalysis and a Fellow of the American Academy of Psychoanalysis, Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and the American Group Psychotherapy Society. A faculty member for thirty one years, he teaches various resident courses and seminars stressing clinically significant psychodynamic principles and has been awarded the Residents Certificate for Excellence in Clinical Instruction on five occasions. He also works with residents to arrange a Film and Discussion Series open to all residents. Current interests include Ethics and Managed Care and Dr. Bozzuto has delivered numerous lectures and chaired many panels in this field. Dr. Bozzuto also assists residents in becoming active and contributing members of the Hartford and Connecticut Psychiatric Societies. He is a Distinguished Life Fellow of the APA and is a Fellow of the American Group Psychotherapy Association. He was awarded the Special Presidential Commendation of the APA in 2000.
